Do you ever find yourself with a heavy heart? I confess that this is where I was yesterday. It seemed that everywhere I turned frustration and disappointment faced me. At the end of the day, my mind was tired of trying to rationalize why people do the things they do, and my heart was burdened with sadness for relationships that are broken, and friends who seem more like foes. I found myself at the end of the day drifting deeper and deeper into a sea of “whys”.
Then, God met me this morning in His Word with a reminder, “Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done. Sing to him; yes, sing his praises. Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds. Exult in his holy name; rejoice you who worship the Lord. Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him. He is the Lord our God. His justice is seen throughout the land. He always stands by his covenant-the commitment he made to a thousand generations.” (Psalm 105: 1-4, 7-8)
When I am under attack, He is my defender. When humans fail me, His love still stands strong. When relationships are broken, He can put them back together.
I love these words from the song, Defender,
“You know before I do
Where my heart can seek to find Your truth
Your mercy is the shade I’m living in
You restore my faith and hope again.
All I did was praise
All I did was worship
All I did was bow down
All I did was stay still”
Today, let’s not continue to drift, searching for our own way out of difficulties and darkness. Instead, let’s anchor ourselves to the Light of the World. Instead of asking “why”, let’s worship the One who will make a way.
This is spot on, my friend! Preach!
